Our Group

The 1st Horsford and St Faith's Scout Group is a successful and happy Group, having over 75 members enjoying Scouting at all levels throughout the year.

Spaces within the Group are often limited, and we therefore have a waiting list - and a policy to fairly determine which Young People are allocated spaces from the list.  You can see the policy here.

Our sections meet throughout the week:

Cubs (Tuesdays) 7.00 to 8.30
Bramley Beavers (Fridays) 6.15 to 7.30
Scouts (Thursdays) 7.00 to 9.00

Our Group was formed in 1970 when the Reverend Jonathan Boston arrived in the parish - he came with a background in Scouting, word soon got around and it wasn't long before a group of enthusiastic boys were knocking on his door, and the Group was formed soon afterwards.

For some time the Group met in the grounds of the vicarage in Horsford but  in 1996 we moved to our current location at the Bramley Lakes Activity Centre site, in Dog Lane, Horsford.

This HQ has served us well, but it's clear that we need a new premises - meeting our current and future needs.  Our vision is to build a new HQ next to the existing one so that we can use both buildings in the future.

While Bramley Lakes is quite a way from the hub of the village (but perfect for Scouting activities), the Group involves itself in village activities as much as it can.  We put on a firework display for the village each year, support many school and church events, take part in the Horsford Tidy Day and at the end of the year we escort Santa around the village - raising funds for local charities, such as Wing and a Prayer and Guidedogs for the Blind.

We hope that you will find all the information that you need about our Group in just the click of a button - the website aims to provide information to current members, parents and guardians and prospective members.

Scouting is the largest co-educational Youth Movement in the UK, and is always growing.  Our Group is also also growing as the population of our villages and surrounding areas increase the demand for Scouting in the community.

This website will give you an insight into Scouting in Horsford and St Faith's - you can find out information about our different sections by clicking on the buttons above. You can also find information about the Group Executive Committee and keep up to date with upcoming events.
